Making the Decision to Donate Life

Make sure you have all the facts. If in doubt, keep reading by visiting our frequently asked questions and our additional learning resources. Once you have all the facts, we hope you will make the decision to be a donor.

Think about it - how else can you truly make a difference in this world - how else can you save lives at absolutely no cost to you or your family.

The easy thing to do is to do nothing...to simply ignore the need and your ability to have a positive impact.

The courageous thing to do is to register to Donate Life.

Registering your Donation Decision or Donor Designation (DD)

Register your Donor Designation:

  • At the BMV when you obtain or renew a learner's permit, driver license or state ID card
  • Online at www.DonateLifeIndiana.org

The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles is a vital partner in the number of lives saved through organ and tissue donation.

The BMV is legislatively mandated to ask customers about being an organ and tissue donor. You should be asked each time you are at the branch whenever you are obtaining or renewing your:

  • state ID card
  • learner's permit
  • or driver's license

The BMV currently ask customers "Would you like to be an organ and tissue donor and placed on the state donor registry?"

If you have been moved by this learning process to decide to be an organ or tissue donor, continue by clicking Next to register your decision to give the gift of life.
