Saving and enhancing lives by registering organ, eye and tissue donors.
Donate Life Indiana is an alliance of agencies that exists to save and enhance lives by registering organ, eye and tissue donors and maintaining the Indiana Donor Registry. Established in 1998, Donate Life Indiana is a state team of Donate Life America.
On July 1, 2001, Indiana’s Donor Choice law went into effect, which enables Hoosiers to indicate their legally binding decision to be an organ and tissue donor. This is also known as first-person consent. This can be done at the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles when obtaining or renewing a permit, driver's license or state ID, or online at www.DonateLifeIndiana.org.
The Indiana Donor Registry is the collection of data of every individual in Indiana who has registered their first person consent or donor designation. Indiana legislation requires Donate Life Indiana to maintain the Indiana Donor Registry and promote organ and tissue donation.
Donate Life Indiana is funded by a "check off" financial contribution Hoosiers can make during annual vehicle license plate renewals or when registering a new vehicle.
Donate Life Indiana partners with member agencies, including IOPO, to implement these programs:
