IOPO Services for Donor Families

Organ donation can be difficult for donor families and friends. In addition to our primary mission of facilitating the organ procurement processes, IOPO is committed to providing post-donation follow up services to the families of organ donors to honor the memory of the donor and to help ease the pain of the loss of their loved one. We do this in a number of ways including:

  • Honoring your donor and you - the donor family - for the gift of life your donor gave
  • Providing links to bereavement programs across the state
  • Facilitating communications between donor families and recipients (where acceptable to both parties)
  • Management of the Donor Quilt program where you can create a quilt patch about your donor
  • Invitations to the Gift of Life Celebration where donors are honored
  • Invitations to the National Transplant Games where recipients celebrate their gift
  • Providing an opportunity to have your donor honored at the National Donor Memorial
  • Providing Grief Support Links
  • Providing reading recommendations to deal with your grief
